editor’s note: This is posted on behalf of Rex Jewett, Lewis & Clark District Commissioner
Well here’s something different!
We are going to have a town meeting style Boy Scout roundtable this month. All troop adult leaders, and committee members are invited. I would like all troops to come and join the discussion. It’s my hope that the older units may be able to give their insight to problems that they have encountered and that the newer units may be encountering now. There might be problems that the newer units have solved that the older units haven’t seen yet. It might be good to find out that other units are having the same problem that you are.
Here’s some possible topics:
How to get your parents to be more involved.
How to help special needs boys.
How do you deal with difficult boys and their families.
What can you do when the adult leaders or committee members can’t get along?
What can you do to discipline boys that misbehave?
(Here’s a good one) How would you improve the district?
Anybody may bring a topic to be discussed.
Please speak freely and honestly, but be polite.
Date: Tuesday Feb. 13th
Time: 6:30 PM
Place: East Stake of the LDS Church on 15th Ave. S. (turn off of 9th St S at the Eagles Club – there’s a dead end sign there).
Please come and make this a success, Rex Jewett

We all know that every Adult Leader in Scouting in the Montana Council needs to complete Youth Protection training every year.
Have you completed YPT for 2017 yet? If not, we are going to try and make it easy for you. From now on, at every Lewis and Clark District Roundtable we will supply an online Youth Protection Training Kiosk where you can complete all required youth protection training.
So, please come to roundtable on Tuesday, January 10 at 6:30pm at the LDS Stake Center at 1015 15th Ave S! In addition to some great information and fellowship, you will also be able to complete some necessary training. Let’s get 100% YPT certified as a district for 2017 as early as possible!
Roundtables/Training Features of the Month, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. — Combined Cub/Boy Scout Topic: Recharter Party! Computers and Council Staff will be onhand to help you with the online recharter process. Let’s get as many units rechartered as possible in one evening!
We will have a special, combined District Roundtable topic on September 6 at 6:30 p.m. at 1015 15th Avenue South. Officer Jesse Slaughter of the Great Falls Police Department will be coming in to give a presentation on how to keep kids safe on the Internet.
Given the realities of our world today, this topic is both timely and interesting. Please come to the meeting, and ask the parents of your Scouts to attend, also.
