Good morning and happy Monday! Below is the agenda for our District Meeting on Thursday, May 7th at 6:45 pm.

There are new and exciting changes to this years Trail to First Class!
We will still be camping at Holter Lake April 17-19, but we will be using a new campground.
We have also revamped our Call-out ceremony to comply with changes within the Order of the Arrow and we are excited to share it with you. It will truly be an exciting event for all , especially those that are selected by their peers to join our Order.
Please read the attached Leaders Guide in its entirety as there are many changes from previous years.
We have assigned camping spots based on unit size.

The Lewis & Clark District Merit Badge Academy in Great Falls on February 22nd has announced it’s official list of Merit Badge offerings! Please see the leaders’ guide below for pre-requisites and other information about the Merit Badge Academy! Registration and Merit Badge selection will be handle in your unit’s Tentaroo.
Reminder that immediately following the January District Committee meeting on January 9th John Parker will be teaching NOVA Counselor Training!
The training and District meeting will take place in the Montana Council Office basement so please park in the bottom parking lot.

What: NOVA Counselor Training for Cub Scout Leaders
John Parker is a NOVA Counselor, and as a part of his Wood Badge ticket, he is offering a NOVA Counselor training. Come join us, or send someone from your Pack to learn about the NOVA STEM Award!
We’ve just received word that Lewis & Clark received the highest score of Montana Council and total rated criteria for May 2019! Well done to everyone in the District!
Who: All scouts in the Great Falls Area
What: A Service Project to get the Black Eagle Park ready for the Summer Season. This project qualifies you to earn the Messenger of Peace Award.
When: June 29th 9AM – 12PM
Where: The Black Eagle Art Higgins Memorial Park
Happy Montana Council Day! (We are Council 315, get it?!?) It was a great week for Scouting in the Lewis & Clark District.
Thank you to Troop 007 for hosting me at your Court of Honor on Sunday. It was a fun evening. On Monday, Troop 14 invited me to attend their Court of Honor. The SPL ran a great meeting! Congratulations to all of the Scouts on their rank advancement and well done earning all of those Merit Badges.
On Saturday, Scouts are invited to walk in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 1:30 pm. We will march down Central Avenue celebrating Scouting and St Patrick. Wear your Field Uniform and meet at the corner of Park Drive and 1st Ave S at 1:15. Candy and trinkets will be provided.
Coming up next week is the Choteau Investment in Character and Leadership Dinner on Friday at 6:30.
So far, the Merit Badge Academy has commitments for Law, Citizenship in the Nation, Plumbing, Electronics, and Backpacking.
Continue reading “Merit Badge Academy – Counselors Wanted!”With the District Pinewood Derby check-in the evening of May 4th, the District Banquet has been rescheduled to May 18th at 6:30 PM at the Salvation Army Center 1000 17th Ave. S. in Great Falls.
This is a free event and all Scouts, Scouters and their families are welcome to attend. This event is our opportunity to celebrate Scouting in the Lewis & Clark District for the past year. It is also the time to recognize our Unit and District Scouters for the hard, dedicated work that they have put in serving our Scouts. Please take the time to recognize these adults, by nominating them for any of the following awards; District Award of Merit, Unit Leader Award of Merit, Scouters Key, Scouters Training Award. The nomination forms can be found at “Awards Central” located at scouting.org/awards. Please submit all nomination forms to the L&C District Advancement and Recognition Chairman, Brad Weaver, by May 4th. He can be contacted by email at brad.weaver@scouting.org.
All packs and Troops are asked to be represented by their Unit Key 3. The Unit Key 3 consists of the Chartered Organization Representative (or Institutional Head), Committee Chair and the Cubmaster / Scoutmaster. In order to provide enough food, please RSVP with Brad Weaver no later than May 11th.
