Popcorn! Popcorn! Popcorn! The Popcorn sale is going online

You can still sell (and buy) popcorn online until Monday, Nov. 4!

If you want to buy popcorn please call or text Mandy, 406-868-9315, and she will help you find a Scout to support. Or search for a Scout you may know here: https://www.trails-end.com/sellers/support/scout .

Online sales are great, there is no popcorn for scouts to deliver and the shipping is FREE!

Don’t need to order any more Popcorn?  You can make a Military Donation, order Peanut Clusters, or order the Coffee, it is REALLY good!

If you did not meet your goal (all online orders count towards the prizes until Nov. 4th) or if you would like to raise a little more to cover the recent increase in membership fees, you can by selling popcorn online this week. ($100 in Online Sales will cover the increased cost for 1 Scout!) An additional bonus is that online sales reduce the Unit bill to the Council!

Where to sell online:

  • Facebook: on your parent’s profile and in yardsale groups
  • Send an email
  • Use the Nextdoor social network to ask your neighbors
  • Text your Online Scout Code to your friends and family, even ones who live far away

Video Report

Chairman’s Report

Fall is really here: the leaves are turning, the outside temperature is dropping, and there’s a distinct smell of Popcorn in the air!

Our district team is excited about the challenges this season brings and is working for you. Fall Recruitment, Popcorn Sale, Charter Renewals, Training are high on our list.

We welcome our new Scouts and their families. Ours is an organization of volunteers working hard to deliver Scouting’s Mission to you.  You are invited to get involved with your children – in their Den, Pack, Patrol, or Troop – and enjoy the fun in Scouting.

A word about Charter Renewals:  This annual rejuvenation process is very important. Please take this opportunity for your unit to review where it is, to register all members and adults, and to set its goals for this next year. Your unit commissioner will work with you to get the paperwork done.  Remember your Commissioner is a volunteer and likely someone who has walked in your shoes before or been in your scouting position is trained and experienced and can really help you and your unit.

One roll of our District Committee is to assure that you are getting important current information.  We post monthly reports for your information on this website.  Please take the time to read them and disseminate them to your families and unit leadership. We would like to structure our monthly meetings be more responsive to your needs … to provide information and demonstrations that can best be done face-to-face, and applicable to the needs of our unit leaders.

This month our District Roundtable Meeting (Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Senior Patrol Leaders) and our District Committee Meeting (Unit Charter Organization Reps, district committee volunteers, all interested Scouters), will focus on the program plans for next months and discuss the best way to suit your needs in these meetings

We also will have a Youth Protection Training session starting at 6:30 pm.  Please get you unit leaders and interested parents to this session.

Thank you for everything you do!

In Good Scouting,

Jack

Scout Me In! Recruitment

The Lewis and Clark District is pleased to welcome more than 100 new scouts this fall, many of them young women.

These youth have brought dozens of new Scouters into our ranks too! Please welcome our new members over the coming months.

Camping Committee

The committee has offered a free Camporee pass to the top Scout selling Popcorn this year

Klondike is on for Jan. 25-27,  2019. The cost will be $15 per person.

Location is Camp Rotary. I am asking for the District approval of ordering Porta Potties in advance this year as we keep freezing the main toilets up every year. This will keep us from an emergency situation that seems to happen every winter. There will still be heat and bathrooms in the lodge.

The first Klondike Committee meeting will be at Boston’s on Oct. 25th at 6 pm. There we will discuss the planned theme and events.

Many thanks to my support staff at Fall Camporee for handling this event in my absence. Tim Locke, Mike and Tami Lucas, Tim Park, and Rex Jewett. Congrats to all who won events and thank you to all who attended.

Popcorn Kick-off and Seller's Academy

Join other Scouts and parents on Friday, September 29th at 6:30pm.
Hopefully your unit’s popcorn chair has notified everyone of the district Popcorn Kick-off and Seller’s Academy .
Popcorn Sales are the way to raise money for activities for your Scouts and pay for a year of fun and adventure.  The more popcorn sold, the less funding that comes out of parent’s pockets.  By attending, your Scout will learn effective ways to “Fund His Adventure!”  Scouts who attended in the past have more fun during the sale and have more confidence while selling.
Scouts will learn:

  • Exciting product lineup
  • Expert Advice
  • Simple steps for selling more popcorn
  • INCENTIVES and PRIZES
  • Online Selling at trails-end.com

This is a great opportunity for older and brand new Scouts!  There will be incentives for boys who attend the Seller’s Academy and for units that have boys that attend!
See you and your Scouts Friday night, September 29th at 6:30pm at the Montana Council-BSA Service Center, located at 82o 17th Ave S, Great Falls
