Urgent – A Troop is needed for a flag ceremony on Thursday!

I received a phone from Russ Ehnes today looking for a Scout Troop to present flags and lead in the Pledge of Allegiance on Thursday. He is with an organization that is working with the BSA and the Montana Council to bring an ATV program to K-M as a summer camp activity for our Scouts. The Council Scout Executive, Gordon Rubard, and John Manz from the Council Executive Board will be attending this meeting.

Here is the email from Mr. Ehnes:

As we discussed, we would be thrilled to have BSA members present the colors and lead us in the pledge of allegiance Thursday night at the Holiday Inn at 7:00 in Great Falls. The event is the annual conference for NOHVCC and about 175 people from all across the US and Canada.

My cell is 406-899-0898.
Russ Ehnes

If you are interested, please call Mr. Ehnes to arrange.

Reminder – Junior Leader Training – Saturday 8/18

On Saturday August 18th, the Lewis and Clark District will be offering a Junior Leader Training course to all area Boy Scouts and Boy Scout Leaders. This course is intended for all current Troop leadership or future Troop leaders.
The purpose of the course is to define the Patrol Method, explain leadership position responsibilities, and instruct adult leaders on how to empower a youth led Troop.
The course will begin at 9am and will be held at the LDS Stake Center (same as the Roundtable and District Meeting). Every attendee should bring a lunch and drink as the course will last into the afternoon.
This is the first time we have done a district wide JLT and it would be fantastic if we had a huge turnout.

If you have any questions, please email Kyle at: kyle.roberts@scouting.org

Annual Recognition Banquet

Don’t forget, this Friday at 6pm is our Lewis & Clark District recognition banquet. The address is:

First United Methodist Church
610 2nd Ave N
Great Falls

As always, the banquet is when the district comes together to enjoy a meal, and recognize the leaders that have contributed greatly in the past year of Scouting. At the banquet we will recognize our new Award of Merit recipients, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and Venturing Advisor of the year, and many other awards.

Dinner main course is provided (fried chicken), but the side dishes and desserts are a potluck. Please bring your favorite dish to share with everyone!

If you have any questions, please call Gene Cantley at 231-7073.

Additional Outdoor Leader Training info

Below is the schedule for the OLS training this weekend. The only issue with this is I will NOT be there Friday nite as I have had something arise in my schedule. I will be there by 8AM on Saturday and thru the Tap out Ceremony. I will be sending another email with the training materials attached for your review and will be sending a copy with Chris Shepard.

Please either call me or respond with any questions.

Trail to First Class Schedule

The following is a tentative schedule for Trail to First Class. As you all know it is at Log Gulch Campground at Holter Lake. We are in the upper end of the campground. So when you arrive there maybe a rope across the road. Please take it down drive thru and replace it after going thru. As you may of heard this year is a bit different. Instead of having the older boys teach the stations we are hoping they will be taught by the OA Arrowmen. So as you peruse the schedule you will notice there is a 9:30 PM OA meeting on Friday with Chris Shephard the Chapter Advisor instead of an SPL meeting. So if you have Arrowmen in your unit please be sure they attend.

We are planning something for the older boys as well and that is in the works as well speak. Tim Locke is working that I believe.

I will be handing out the tracking sheets right after the morning flags on Saturday. As it seems they sometimes get misplaced ect…..
