Conservation Service Project Opportunity May 3-5

The Prickly Pear District has invited our District to participate in the Upper Missouri Watershed Alliance Service Project May 3-5, 2019. You can sign up here:

This service project will include removal of Russian Olive trees and other undesirable plants from a section of stream bank and re-planting with desirable plants and shrubs. It’s an opportunity for Scouts from Troops and Crews to earn conservation service hours, work on rank advancements or teach rank advancements, and work on the Fishing, Fly Fishing, Soil and Water Conservation, or Bird Study Merit Badge. This will be done on a rotating basis with about 1/3 of the camp at a time working on the service project.

You will be camping, all meals except Friday night will be provided.

Check-in and camp set up will be Friday night. Service work will begin Saturday morning and conclude by early afternoon on Sunday.

You will need camping gear, BSA field and activity uniforms, work gloves, sturdy shoes, Scout Handbook, etc. This will occur rain or shine, hazardous weather excluded.

The project is located 5 miles north of Craig, on the frontage (Recreation) road. Signs directing to the site will be posted on the frontage road beginning at Craig. Map is attached.
