Cascade County Commissioner Joe Briggs is once again coordinating a Boy Scout trip to the Legislature at the State Capital in Helena. The trip is scheduled for Monday February 18, 2013, (President’s Day). Troops will need to meet in the Rotunda of the Capital (2nd Floor) no later than 8:00 a.m. The day’s events will conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m. Troops will need to plan for a sack lunch as time will be tight and the schedule needs to remain flexible. Additionally, parking is limited near the Capital, so those leaving the grounds for lunch may have difficulty finding parking when they return.
Scheduling is still underway. Thus far we have confirmed meetings with the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House and the Lt. Governor. The boy scouts will also get a tour of the Capital and will attend committee hearings and floor sessions of the House and Senate.
We have been doing this for 10 years and it has always been a great day for the scouts and their leaders as well. Please confirm your attendance with Commissioner Briggs, firstname.lastname@example.org, as soon as possible to get an accurate head count of the number of troops, boy scouts and leaders who will be attending so final arrangements can be made.
