My name is Tim Hodges and I am your new District Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner. We are working to make the roundtable’s a more valuable resource for you. Our next roundtable is Tuesday November 6, 2012, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the LDS Church – 15th Ave S and 10th Street.
The November meeting will feature a demonstration of the newest in camping and outdoor adventure equipment by Bighorn Wilderness. Your attendance is respectively requested in order to make this presentation effective and to provide quality representation to your Units.
In December, we will address the shortage of Merit Badge counselors in the District. I would request before the meeting, you review the list of merit badges via (http://www.scouting.org/meritbadges.aspx); poll your scouts, your troop leadership and bring a list of 2-3 merit badges that your Unit would like to have offered but have not had a counselor for. We will prioritize that list, work with the Training Committee and then will set out to recruit counselors from the community.
Finally, I would like to emphasize this is your roundtable, and will only be as valuable as we all make it. If you have been missing the roundtable to attend other meetings, i.e., Order of the Arrow, please try to at least stop in and introduce yourself for part of the roundtable. All are welcome! If you can’t attend a particular roundtable, use the leadership method we teach the scouts, and delegate it to someone. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and hearing your ideas for future roundtable topics.
