Here is the email I received from Tom Lynch with Pack 143:
As per my message what i am looking for is about 40-50 scouts/leaders to
assist in the opening ceremonies for the first day of the Big Sky Pro Rodeo
Roundup rodeo on July 31st, during the State Fair. The rodeo starts at 7:00pm
and I will need everyone there by 6:15-6:30.
What it will consist of is scouts carrying out and opening a 30’x50′ American
flag. The Marine Corp League will presenting the official colors. The scouts
and leaders will just need to hold the flag during the ceremony and then carry
After the ceremony the scouts can go to the stands and enjoy the rodeo as a
group. I have passes for the leaders and their scouts to get into the fair
grounds via the Horsemans gate off of the Nw Bypass across from Burger King.
This pass will include parking at the rodeo arena and allows access into the
fair as well. I only have passes for the scouts and leaders, not entire
families, So this should be a scout outing. Our pack (143) is using this
towards our National Summertime Award for July.
So far our pack has only committed about 10 scouts and leaders so we need alot
more. We asked troop #4 and it sounds like they will not make it. I also am
waiting on word from a pack out of Sun Prairie. I know the time is close now
and I will need to know ASAP so I can get the numbers and get the passes to
the packs before next week and any assistance would be appreciated.
Also on a side note, we will be hosting a Military Appreciation dinner before
the rodeo under the grandstands from 5:30-6:30. The dinner is a free meal to
military members and families with passes they get before the rodeo. Some of
our boys are geeting there early and are going to help out at the meal with
clearing tables, refilling drinks etc. this is also a great opportunity to
help out and earn some segments or patches in citizenship or other areas. If
the boys are interested in this as well they just need to get there early.
if there are any questions I can be reached directly on my cell at 231-9470 or
my home 452-0516. Thanks again.
