Derby Day – Derby Day was excellent this past weekend. Although we didn’t have rockets at this year’s event, at that caused some confusion, it resulted in a much smoother event! There were no technical glitches, and the entire event was done by 2pm. Thank you to Brian and the team that put it all together! As soon as we can get the results extracted from the laptop that was hooked to the track, we will get the results posted on the website.
Medicine River Scout Center – The priority right now is finishing the clean-up that was begun in the fall. Peter is scheduling a work party for Sunday March 25th. Also, we will begin establishing trails at the center.
Spring Camporee – Spring Camporee will be held at Cobb Ranch May 18-20th. It will be all about Wilderness Survival. Saturday morning will involve some training and then there will be a practical application in the evening. The next Camping Committee meeting will be at Deb’s house.
Trail to First Class – Outdoor Leader Training is still on the schedule to be done at Trail to First Class. Just a reminder as well, OA Tap-out will also be at the Trail to 1st Class again this year.
Food Drive – This is the first time we have ever had to get more bags and fliers. The whole town will be well covered. Thanks to the Great Falls East Stake is going to do an area this year. Reminder that pickup time can start as early as 8am instead of 9am on the 31st. Deb is getting will be at the Scout Office on the 24th for additional bags and info. PSAs for both TV and radio are scheduled for this year.
Venture Climbing Trip – The trip was fantastic! We couldn’t have asked for better weather or snow. Four adults and Five youth ventured out for the adventure. While we didn’t successfully summit, we hiked for miles in snowshoes and full packs, and the boys experienced tying harnesses, climbing a steep slope using rope and prussic knots, and winter rappelling. The youth are already discussing the next Venturing trip!
Order of the Arrow – New website is coming. Please call Keith Hasbrouck, Paul Grosvold, or Chris Shepherd to set up your Troop OA elections. They need to get those elections scheduled ASAP.
Powder Horn – This summer is only the second time that Montana Council has ever held a Powder Horn course. Details are on the Council Website. As if anyone needed additional incentive to attend, Bob Dowdy will be cooking!
Eagle Board – Tim reported that we passed 2 new Eagles in February.
