LDS Stake Center, 1015 15th Ave S
February 7, 2012
Roundtables/Training Features of the Month, 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Topics: Upcoming Derby Day, Logging Community Service Hours, Voice of the Scout Surveys, and issues with Youth Protection during recharter process.
The meeting was opened at 7:35 pm, Aaron led in the Pledge of Allegiance
The January minutes were approved
Bill Rutten was voted in as a District Vice Chairman.
Old/New Business (broke into committee meetings for 25 minutes) Medicine River Scout Center – Ken Roberts is finding someone to come out and wood chip up the limbs for trails and he will need help that day to drag, shovel, etc. He will let us know once a date has been arranged for the chipping. We are going to clear brush, build a fence, and create a fishing area along the Sun River.
Klondike – Rex gave the Klondike report. It was perfect! 32 degrees was the high, with a low of 24. There was 2 feet of fresh snow. No injuries. Tons of fun! Everyone raved about how it was the best Klondike Derby in years.
Spring Camporee – Spring Camporee will be held at Cobb Ranch May 17-19th. Our next Klondike can be there as well.
Trail to First Class – Outdoor Leader Training will be done at Trail to First Class.
Scout Show – We are going to ask the Voyagers if we can do the Scout Show at our annual Scout Night at the baseball game. It would give us great exposure, lots of non-Scout families can see what we do, and we already have a solid number of paticipating units.
Food Drive – Great Falls East Stake is going to do an area this year. Proposal was approved to move pickup start time to 8am instead of 9am on the 31st. Deb is getting bags now and will be at the Scout Office on the 24th for additional bags and info.
Venture Climbing Trip – We are all set for the Venturing trip on February 17+18. It will be a mountaineering trip attempting a winter summit of Rocky Mountain west of Choteau. This will certainly be something the boys will have never experienced before!
Eagle Board – Tim reported that we passed 2 new Eagles in January.
