Bateau presented to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Friday, August 5th 2:30pm

GREAT FALLS, MT: A group of California Boy Scouts will donate a 25 foot Lewis & Clark replica ‘bateau’, complete with sail, to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center for its next major exhibit. On Friday, August 5th, the Scouts will hand-portage the bateau, on a trailer, for about a mile along the river walk in Great Falls. Then, in a 2:30pm ceremony, Troop 466 from Sunnyvale, California will present their gift to the people of Great Falls. The ceremony will be attended by local VIPs, Montana’s Boy Scout Executive Gordon Rubard and the directors of the Center.

The Scouts, in Lewis and Clark period clothes, have sailed the boat 50 miles this week on the Missouri River from Ft. Benton. They met with the Lewis & Clark Honor Guard along the way. You can read about their trip at
